Jetstar moves to bolster Singapore hub

JETSTAR hopes to gain $20 million a year in synergies as it aggressively grows Singapore as a strategic hub and merges Jetstar Asia's operations with its own.
Jetstar chief executive Bruce Buchanan says the recent announcements of new Jetstar Asia routes from Singapore are just the start of a campaign of aggressive competition and expansion.
"For the first time we can grow that business, so we've committed to putting a lot more aircraft up there and really going after the market in an aggressive way out of Singapore," he said. "So what you're going to see is a lot more of capacity coming online out of Singapore and lot more new routes coming on line."
