Essential religious knowledge in our social studies syllabus?

SINGAPORE - At the height of the AWARE saga, some concerned Christians were outspoken against the actions of Miss Josie Lau and her colleagues, all of whom were from the Church of Our Saviour (COOS). One of the main concerns was that the events which transpired might weaken ties between Christians and non-Christians. The biggest fear was that non-Christians might end up having misconceptions on Christianity resulting from their impression of the actions of Miss Lau and her colleagues. And this could have wide-ranging implications on Singapore’s social fabric.
Perhaps, such an episode highlights the importance of citizenship education. Citizenship education has been ubiquitous in public schooling within every society.
