SIA POSTS 21% DROP IN PASSENGER LOAD FACTOR IN MARCH

SINGAPORE, Apr 16, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- SGPJF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Singapore Airlines (SGX:C6L) recorded a year-on-year decline in systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres) of 21.8 per cent in March 2009, the airline said in a statement today.
The 21.8 per cent slump easily outpaced the 9.0 per cent reduction in capacity (measured in available seat kilometres), the airline said. As a result, passenger load factor (PLF) declined 11.4 percentage points to 69.4 per cent and the number of passengers carried decreased 23.0 per cent over the same month last year to 1.3 million.
