Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. (CHRT) swung to a first-quarter net loss on lower sales and margins.
The Singapore-based chip foundry posted its third consecutive quarterly loss, but forecast second-quarter results better than Wall Street was expecting.
"The improvement in customer orders and the resulting sequential growth expectation into the second quarter are definitely encouraging signs," said Chief Executive Chia Song Hwee.
