SINGAPORE/BANGKOK (Reuters) - Southeast Asia's banking sector may see a new round of M&A as the global financial and economic crisis forces foreign lenders to head to the exits and local players to team up with larger rivals for safety.
Unlike the last flurry of M&A activity in 2006-08 at the peak of the bull market, buyers are expected to call the shots now as deal valuations are likely to be significantly lower.
