When Costa Rican President Óscar Arias visited Singapore at the end of last year, he received a promise of assistance to help his country develop its seaports.
Francisco Jimenez, executive chairman of the Board of Port Administration and Economic Development of the Atlantic Coast in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, accompanied the president on the visit. Jimenez said he considers it an advantage that the Singapore port’s parent company, SPA, has connections with Panama because its proximity to Costa Rica could allow the transfer of operators to Costa Rica.
