State-owned port operator PSA International of Singapore said its four terminals in that country handled 8.8-percent more containers through November than in the previous-year period.
The firm, which operates terminals in Singapore and in Europe, China and India, said in a statement on its Web site that it handled 26.86 million TEUs compared with 24.69 million TEUs in 2007.
Figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, however, said preliminary estimates showed total container throughput in November dropped 1.5 percent from a year earlier and 9.3 percent from the previous month, Reuters reported.
