November 6, 2008 - Singaporean telco SingTel has managed to secure the rights to broadcasting live matches from the Italian Serie A football league on its 'mio TV' IPTV service, adding to its existing rights to deliver coverage of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup 2009-12 coverage.
From this weekend, up to four live matches will be made available each weekend from the Italian premier league, with commentary available in both English and Mandarin, as well as up to 40 hours of on-demand content per month. The telco will launch a dedicated Serie A channel to carry the broadcast coverage, with access costing S$ 8 (US$ 5.39) per month as a standalone service, or included for free in the 'recommended' basic 25-channel SuperSaver package, which costs S$ 19.90 per month.
