Singapore to spend $1.5 bln to help firms get credit

SINGAPORE, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Singapore will spend S$2.3 billion ($1.5 billion) to help companies get access to credit amid the global financial crisis, the government said on Friday.

"The government is acting early to enhance our business financing schemes in anticipation of greater credit tightening as a result of the global financial crisis," the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement.
