Investor doubted ABC's viability

TEMASEK, the Government of Singapore's investment fund and ABC Learning Centre's second biggest shareholder, expressed concern about the ongoing viability of the company two months ago.

The fund approached forensic accounting firms, including Ferrier Hodgson's Perth office, in September to investigate the accounts of ABC.

The request came just days after the company failed to lodge its accounts for 2007-08 following a week-long suspension of its shares and while then-chief executive Eddy Groves continued to reassure shareholders the company was sound.

Temasek is likely to have lost its $400 million investment in the company.
