SINGAPORE (AFP) — There were no banners, no signs and no shouting on Monday when liberalised rules governing outdoor demonstrations in Singapore took effect at a specially-designated park.Nobody showed up to protest, and activists dismissed the new rules as a token gesture by the government.
Demonstrations are now allowed without a police permit at the existing Speakers' Corner, a park allocated for limited free speech, the parks service said in an earlier statement.
