Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore's population rose 4.3 percent to 4.59 million in 2007 after luring more foreigners, according to the city-state's Year Book of Statistics.
Expatriates voted Singapore the best place overall to live, based on a survey commissioned by HSBC Holdings Plc, Europe's biggest bank. Cities including Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai are locked in a rivalry for global firms to set up shops, trying to attract foreign professionals with promises of luxury and quality of life.
