SINGAPORE, Aug 8 (Bernama) - Singapore has outperformed other countries because it chooses leaders on merit, builds trust between leaders and the people who work together for the good of all Singaporeans, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said."Weve avoided the political turbulence that has engulfed several countries around us," he said in his National Day message which was televised on the eve of Singapore's 43rd birthday Friday night.
He said Singapore had not had strident protests from minority communities who felt unfairly treated or unruly demonstrations for all kinds of reasons real or imagined.
