Singapore - The head of a transplant society in Singapore said he has been cleared in a scheme to illegally buy a kidney and continues to practise medicine. "The authorities have investigated the case, and I have not been implicated," Dr Lye Wai Choong said, according to The Straits Times newspaper Saturday.
Lye, director of the Society of Transplantation in Singapore, was to have performed a kidney transplant this year on retail magnate Tang Wee Sung, who pleaded guilty Wednesday to illegally trying to purchase a kidney from an Indonesian donor.
