Singapore - Nature guides who show tourists and locals around Singapore's reserves and parks will likely need a certificate from the government starting next year, news reports said Monday. The proposed rule is designed to prevent shoddy tours and poorly informed guides and applies to the city-state's biggest and most popular parks.

"This is meant to be a comfort to the public who want to engage a service, so they will know that the person doing the guiding has a consistently high level of knowledge," The Straits Times quoted P Teva Raj, National Parks director of industry, as saying.
