SINGAPORE, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Singapore government has paid out the first installment of S$407 million (S$1 = RM2.3) to 2.3 million Singaporeans as part of its move to share the nation's surpluses with its citizens.
The payment, called Growth Dividends and to be made in two installments, was introduced by the city-state in this year's Budget Statement.
The first installment of the Growth Dividends which would cost the government a total of S$865 million this year was made on April 30, the Singapore Finance Ministry said Monday. The second installment will be made on Oct 1.
