Singapore detention center officials sacked over terror leader's escape

SINGAPORE, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The superintendent of a detention center was sacked, while his deputy was demoted with a pay cut, over security lapses that led to the escape of Singapore's suspected terrorist Mas Selamat Kastari.

Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng told the Singapore Parliament on Monday that the Whitley Road Detention Center superintendent was sacked over security negligence, local TV Channel NewsAsia reported.
