Singapore to allow increased import of rice

SINGAPORE: Singapore will allow rice importers to bring in more stock to meet increased demand, the government said on Monday, amid consumer fears of a rice supply crunch and higher prices. S Iswaran, senior minister of state at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, told parliament that Singapore's rice supply has not been disrupted by export curbs in rice-producing countries that have caused global rice prices to spike in recent months.
