The Ministry of Transport and Works has received a proposal from Singapore offering to train Jamaicans as aircraft technicians.

The Air Transport Training College of Singapore made the proposal as a pre-requisite to setting up a full aviation training organisation in the island.

The proposal, which is being supported locally by Surrey Paving and Aggregates Limited, will see a set of instructors being trained in Singapore within the next two months.

The instructors will then train the first cohort of technicians in Jamaica, beginning in summer.
