SINGAPORE -- IROs whose companies are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) now have access to insight on corporate governance and emerging regulatory issues by way of a new Regulator's Column.
The web page is hosted on the main part of the site and allows experts to communicate views, comment and offer guidance on sting Singaporean listing rules.
The first topic the column deals with is the exchange's plan to extend the minimum issue price of S$0.20 per share, already applicable to IPOs, to reverse takeovers (RTOs). The news comes in advance of the exchange's public consultation on the issue.
SGX reasons that because concerns relating to low-priced IPO stocks are equally applicable to RTOs, the same minimum price should apply to both. It also argues that the move will lower volatility and raise corporate governance standards.
'SGX is engaging the market participants in order to promote greater awareness of issues and raise the level of understanding of our regulatory principles and practices,' says Yeo Lian Sim, senior executive vice president at the exchange.
The exchange also hopes the new column will promote more discussion and better understanding of existing regulatory structures
