MediaCorp targets local Indian market

C21Media.net

Singaporean company MediaCorp is to launch a new channel for the country's growing Indian community and create a new children's net, in a move it claims will make it one of the largest Asian free-to-air broadcasters.

Vasantham (Spring) will increase the company's Indian-language programming from 29 to 65 hours a week. Set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2008, the channel will show locally produced family-based entertainment, ranging from long serials and reality-based content to talkshows, and will also focus on news and current affairs.
