"AIS, 21.4% owned by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, posted a net profit of 5.13 billion baht in the October-December quarter, up from 3.19 billion a year earlier and 3.51 billion baht in the previous quarter."
"AIS is the flagship of Shin Corporation, which was founded by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. His family sold its stake in Shin to Temasek Holdings of Singapore in January 2006, touching off protests that culminated in the September 2006 coup that toppled Mr Thaksin."
