inSing.com, 3 Oct 2012The void deck used as an “office” by former Potong Pasir Member of Parliament (MP) Chiam See Tong has been cleared out to make way for a new facility.
It has been the spot for his Meet-the-People sessions since 1992.
Yesterday, a post on the Singapore People’s Party Facebook page reported that someone sponsored a moving company to move Mr Chiam’s much-used desk from Block 108 Potong Pasir Avenue 1 to the party’s headquarters near MacPherson Road. The person was not named.
The current MP for Potong Pasir, Mr Sitoh Yih Pin, told reporters on Tuesday that a voluntary welfare organisation (VWO) will be occupying the void deck, but he did not want to reveal the organisation’s name, only saying it has been operating in Potong Pasir for quite a few years. Full story
