inSing.com, 6 Jul 2012The recent arrests of pastor Kong Hee and 4 other key members of City Harvest Church for allegedly misusing church funds to supposedly boost the pop music career of the pastor’s wife, Ho Yeow Sun (Sun Ho), has kicked a massive hornet’s nest.
Opinions have come out strongly on both sides; with critics slamming the church for its gross amount of wealth and almost hypnotic hold it has on its followers, staunch supporters protesting that their church leaders are the object of a witch hunt.
That this polarity has sprung up points to the confusion that lies at the heart of this mess. Many members of City Harvest Church have had life-changing, redemptive experiences in the Church and received love, warmth, support and spiritual guidance from pastor Kong and his team — which is now at odds with the picture of the man portrayed in the media; a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
