Singapore's Opposition Fielding Qualified Candidates For General Election

SINGAPORE, April 20 (Bernama) -- Singapore's opposition parties have attracted qualified candidates for the coming General Election, some of whose credentials were similar to those of the ruling People's Action Party's (PAP) candidates, reported Channel NewsAsia.
According to the local television network, five of the National Solidarity Party (NSP) candidates have post-graduate degrees, and its current slate is over double the size of the team it fielded in the last general election.
For the Workers' Party, qualified candidates like lawyer Chen Show Mao, who has degrees from Oxford, Harvard and Stanford universities, make up its largest team since the 1988 elections.
Meanwhile, two candidates of the Singapore People's Party's seven-member team have Master's degrees as compared to the 2006 elections when none of its eight candidates had post-graduate degrees. Full story
