Bitter and fierce criticism of the practice of doctor-assisted suicide has managed to slam such discussions down a tricky and slippery slope.
Chairman of the Council for the Third Age, Mr. Gerard Ee, while putting a definite question mark on the ability of a patient who is in pain and dying to make a judgment which is sound, insisted that to argue that such a move will end up sparing the loved ones much suffering is seriously flawed.
