OPTUS has credited Apple's iPhone for strengthening its position after posting a $139 million profit for the June quarter.
Earnings at Australia's No2 telco surged 13.4 per cent for the three months to June 30. It earned $122m in the same period last year.
Optus chief executive Paul O'Sullivan said the third successive quarter of revenue growth was due to the explosive popularity of data-hungry devices such as the iPhone 3G.
