"The National Environment Agency (NEA) implemented an A, B, C and D grading system to rate the hygiene standards of food stalls, with A being the best. Stalls are required to display their NEA grade prominently. Stalls with C or D grades are subjected to constant checks by NEA officers. The indian rojak stall responsible for the Geylang Serai food poisoning had received a “C” grade.
Perhaps, a carrot dangling approach can be adopted to encourage hawkers to maintain good personal and food hygiene and ensure proper housekeeping of their premises. This can occur in the form of rental credits. How does this proposal work?"
