On his home turf of the island-republic, the wheels of power are grinding small. Very small.
On Monday in Singapore's High Court, former prime minister and now Minister Mentor, Lee Kuan Yew, and his son, the Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, are pressing for aggravated damages in the latest defamation case against one of their political challengers. Justice Belinda Ang will no doubt assess the merits of their submission according to Singapore's established standards of reasonableness and impartiality.
The defendants are Chee Soon Juan, the secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party, which has not had any seats in parliament for many years, his sister, and executive member of the party, Chee Siok Chin, and the party.
