Singapore to invest 8.2 million dollars in rice research

Singapore is to invest up to 8.2 million dollars over the next five years in a new rice research programme aimed at ensuring there is enough to meet future demand in the region, the International Rice Research Institute said Friday.
The Philippines-based institute said it hoped the investment by the National Research Foundation of Singapore would encourage other Asian nations to invest in similar programmes. Full story
