Singapore's stricter foreign manpower policy not worrisome, Filipino workers cannot be easily replaced: Philippine's Dept of Labor and Employment

ABN-CBN News, 17 Apr 2013
MANILA - The reduction of foreign manpower in Singapore should not be a cause for serious concern, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday.
In a report to Baldoz, Labor Attache Vicente Cabe said the Singaporean Government released a population 'white paper' in January which projected that the entry of foreign workers will slow down, but made it clear that certain groups of workers will continue to be filled up by foreigners.
Baldoz meanwhile said the new policy is not targeted against Filipinos.
I believe our OFWs have established themselves in niche markets that cannot readily be replaced. Be that as it may, we at the DOLE are prepared with our reintegration programs for the few OFWs who may be affected by the foreign worker reduction policy,” she said. Full story
