A total of 26,081 marriages were registered in 2009, up from 24,596 in 2008.This was the sixth successive year of increase.
The number of marriages registered under the Women’s Charter increased from 20,389 in 2008 to 22,060 in 2009, which offset the decline in the number of Muslim marriages from 4,207 to 4,021 over the same period. Full Story
