Asian countries need to strengthened regional cooperation and integrate faster and deeper to tide over the current global economic crisis, a Singapore scholar said here on Thursday.
Speaking at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Roundtable 2009, Yeo Lay Hwee, associate director of Singapore's European Union Center, said the current economic crisis exposed the risks of excessive dependence on external demand and structural decline in demand from advanced economies was expected, which made regional cooperation all the more important.
