Orchard owner: Singapore began lighthouse expansion in 1980s

PONTIAN: Singapore is believed to have expanded the compound of a lighthouse operated by its Maritime and Port Authority on Pulau Pisang, some 8km from here, since the early 1980s.

Zaiful Ismail, 39, an orchard owner around the lighthouse, said Singapore had also widened a private jetty and access to the lighthouse from the jetty.

“All these were done without the Malaysian authorities realising it because the Pulau Pisang lighthouse was not an issue then.
